Wait, What’s the Hype with Minis Anyway?
Mini Sessions are one of the latest additions to my services.
A Mini Session is shorter and flows at a faster pace than a Full Portrait Session.
They are 20-30 minutes long that include only retouched images.
They are the perfect way to keep your traditions alive with high efficiency.
What’s The Process Look Like?
Pre-Shoot: When booking a session, we discuss our visions and expectations. Upon submitting the deposit, signing the contract; we will play phone tag of sending inspiration photos back and forth. AKA one of my favorite parts to get to know my client. Finally, we’ll narrow down outfit coordination and specify the meeting point.
Day of The Shoot: Upon arrival, we are bouncing around every minute. My intention is for my client to get the most bang for their buck. In the 30 minutes, we will achieve 20-30 different poses. My clients LOVE this because it gives them the largest range of photos to choose from in their selection process while only shooting for a half hour.
Post-Shoot: My turn around time for Minis is 1-2 weeks. Typically the client receives the first round of the gallery within 3-6 days. These photos are culed and edited to my style of True to Tone and Colorful. Once their 10-12 selections are made, it’s another 5-7 days of retouching to achieve the just about picture perfect photos for the round 2 finals.
What Can I Do to Maximize the Session As
The Client?
Here are a few key points to a successful and efficient shoot.
Live, Laugh, Love The Vision Board - The inspo is a collaboration of both our ideas. This helps with knowing your poses, our end goal and certain aspects you love and maybe don’t love as much.
Be Open Minded - I LOVE trying new prompts I see in the moment. Clients who trust me and my crazy ideas almost always turn into our favorite photos.
*This includes getting messy and fun!
Make Sure Your Selections Need The Extra Work! - Because there are only so many included in the package to be retouched, I always advise my clients to choose wisely. In that I mean really thinking about what photos have hair flying, wrinkled clothing or maybe a little skin softening that just needs that pinch of elevation for the overall look. Now, there are photos that don’t all require retouching and I always say to put those to the side. More times than not, clients will upgrade to buying the whole gallery at a discounted bundle price, or even at a low price per image. This allows for those candid, messy and fun photos to reign true!
Reminder: These tips can be applied to ANY type of Mini Session!
